Challenges in Integrated Mountain Watershed Management
Prev News 3 of 4 Next

The International Potato Centre (CIP)'s Global Mountain Program, Lima, Peru, and the Institute for Resources and Environment, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, will host the above-noted international workshop to be held at CIP August 21-22, 2001. With support from IDRC, these two organizations have been comparing four watersheds in the Himalayan region (in Bhutan, China and Nepal) with four watersheds in the Andean region (in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru), to determine similarities and differences, and illustrate what issues are common to the watersheds and how each country deals with the natural resource management problems it faces in mountainous regions. Other national and international organizations are invited to participate in the workshop and share information in an effort to foster closer collaboration and sharing of experiences between countries and regions.
